Department of M.VOC Food Processing

About Department

M.Voc Food Technology, Nutrition &Management is a two-year postgraduate program that provides in-depth knowledgeand practical training in food processing techniques, food safety and qualitycontrol, food packaging, and supply chain management. The course aims to bridgethe gap between academia and industry by emphasizing hands-on learning andindustry-oriented projects.

In our college, B.voc in food processing started fromJanuary, 2020 under the department of Nutrition. This course is running underSkill council (NSDC) of India and granted by UGC and affiliated by VidyasagarUniversity.

At present , department isrunning by 1 assistant professor, 7 SACT teachers,4 contractual assistantprofessors and 1 lab attendant. The department consists of 3 staff rooms with 1departmental library, 8 smart class rooms .Department have 12 desktops with highinternet speed and 2 laptops. There are several instruments and equipments likeUV VIS ,Spectrophotometer, Colorimeter, pH meter, B O D incubator,Bacteriological incubator, Hot Air Oven, Vacuum pump ,Micro wave oven, Waterbath, Reflux condenser, Centrifuge, Vortex mixture, Weighing balance, Magneticstirrer with hot plate, Micropipette, Desiccators, Hand blender, Icebox,Refrigerator, MLX B Plus microscope Microscope Olimpus HB, Automatic blood,pressure measuring machine, sphygmomanometer, Stethoscope, Human weightmachine, Blood sugar measurement machine, Haemoglobinometer, Anthropometric rod,Skin fold caliper, Measuring tape. This course have training placement cellwhich conducts various trainings, visits and placement in Red cow Dairy, AMUL,SOBISCO, Tasty Bakery, Pashupati aquatics, Bera food products, keventer agropvt ltd ., Mother dairy,fruits and vegetable product pvt. Ltd, Dudhmansagardairy, Bina Bakery, Ma tara bakery, Jaya bakery, Raja bakery ,Britannia ,Starmilk etc.

Department of Nutrition organized an inter three days departmental workshop on "Happiness program" entitled on 24-26th May, 2022 at 1.00 pm -4.00pm onwards to help, motivate and encourage for student. Dr. Apurba Giri Assistant Professor &H.O.D, Department of nutrition, was joining this program. Total participants 38 in this program. The teachers and students participated with full interest, enthusiasm and eagerness. Three days Capacity building programmed on "Meditation and Breath Workshop"- Organized by Dept. of Nutrition in collaboration with IQAC, Mugberia Gangadhar Mahavidyalaya on 12-14th January, 2023. The program was designed by Art of Living Organization, Bangalore. Faculty- Amitava Sarkar, No. of participated students- 24 workshop on "Happiness program" entitled on 12-14th January, 2023 at 1.00 pm -4.00pm onwards to help, motivate and encourage for student. Dr. Apurba Giri Assistant Professor &H.O.D, Department of nutrition, was joining this program.
