About Department

Bengali as a discipline is gradually gaining importance in terms of career prospect as well as knowledge base. The General course in Bengali commenced on 10.07.1964 and the Honours course saw the light of day on 05.01.1972 in our college. The department has four full time posts at present. Prof. Santosh kr. Paria, Prof. Chandra Sekhar Bera and Prof. Srutinath Chakraborty were illustrious teachers who taught at the department for an extensive period. Dr. Pintu Roy Choudhury is Present HOD . Total 6000 deferent book title regarding bengali language and literature are available in our library. Now P.G course are ongoing under Vidyasagar University CBCS System.
