Department of B.VOC Food Processing
Inour college, B.voc in food processing started from 4th August 2018under the department of Nutrition. This course is running under Skill council(NSDC) of India and granted by UGC and affiliated by Vidyasagar University. Inthis 3 year bachelor degree course, there are several subjects like dairy,bakery, beverages, fish, meat &poultry processing, cereal & pulseprocessing, industrial safety and plant layout, waste management, Food standardand laws and regulations ,food packaging etc are taught. Besides various theoretical knowledge there areseveral industry visits and industry training ,internship, excursion, projectworks ,practical classes also done by B.voc food processing students. Atpresent , department is running by 1 assistant professor,7 SACT teachers,4contractual assistant professors and 1 lab attendant. The department consistsof 3 staff rooms with 1 departmental library,8 smart class rooms. Departmenthave 12 desktops with high internet speed and 2 laptops. There are severalinstruments and equipments like UV VIS ,Spectrophotometer, Colorimeter, pHmeter, B O D incubator, Bacteriological incubator, Hot Air Oven, Vacuum pump ,Microwave oven, Water bath, Reflux condenser, Centrifuge, Vortex mixture, Weighingbalance, Magnetic stirrer with hot plate, Micropipette, Desiccators, Handblender, Icebox, Refrigerator, MLX B Plus microscope Microscope Olimpus HB,Automatic blood, pressure measuring machine, sphygmomanometer, Stethoscope,Human weight machine, Blood sugar measurement machine, Haemoglobinometer, Anthropometricrod ,Skin fold caliper, Measuring tape. This course have training placementcell which conducts various trainings, visits and placement in Red cow Dairy,AMUL, SOBISCO, Tasty Bakery, Pashupati aquatics, Bera food products, keventeragro pvt ltd ., Mother dairy,fruits and vegetable product pvt.ltd, Dudhmansagardairy, Bina Bakery, Ma Tara bakery, Jaya bakery, Raja bakery , Britannia ,Starmilk etc.

To celebrate this Department of Nutrition, Mugberia G. Mahavidyalya organized a Celebration of' Rashtriya Poshan Maah', 1-30th September, 2022. For this an awareness programme was done in Krishnanagar M.N. High School on 21st September, 2022 by Dept of Nutrition in collaboration with NSS, IQAC and Women Cell of Mugberia Gangadhar Mahavidyalayan. In that program total 70(F-41,M-29) school students and school 5 (F-1, M-4) teacher participated in this program. Four faculty members and 8 students of Mugberia G. Mahaviydalaya were also present in that program. Miss Rikta Jana, Mr. Prabir Jana, Mr. Khokan Gayan and Mr. Tanmoy Giri (SACT teachers, Department of Nutrition) and Sangita Hazra, Rajaram Giri, Anuja Guria, SukantaBhuina, Shreya Maity, Kabita Das, and Krishna Jana (B.Sc 5th Sem students of Department of Nutrition), nicely presented PPT and participate this celebration.

In the organized program, food safety and its necessity, various infections in food, food safety related complaint methods were discussed in detail.

This time we all are very excited because in a history of Department of Nutrition it happened very first time that we arranged picnic at very far place from The Dargah of Masnad-e-Aala or Hijli Sharif mazar is widely known in this part of Bengal for fulfilling the wishes of the needy. An extensive area situated on the eastern bank of Rasulpur River in the Contai subdivision of East Midnapore district of West Bengal, Hijli has a rich 300-year-old history.
